Group mentoring approaches seem to support Black male youth’s social emotional development through group processes (e.g., unity, brotherhood, trust). Mentoring that promotes Black boys’ racial identity may in turn facilitate positive effects in other aspects of their lives (e.g., academic outcomes).

MB2B programs are designed as a three-way partnership between the mentee, parent and mentor in providing a support system that enables the mentee to successfully navigate the challenges of being an African American male youth. Mentoring the 100 Way is one of the signature programs of 100 Black Men of America. Our mentors are trained to holistically address the social, emotional, and cultural needs of youth in grades 6–12.
